Looking at the stern, where the captain's quarters are, I decided to work on a model to make it stand out a bit. I was going to do a basic box shape, with a traditional window, but thought that would be a bit boring looking. I drew a picture of the cats head, then applied it as a texture on a plane so I can model it. The shape was unusual to make, but I think it came out alright, though it took longer than expects.
I also modeled the window that goes under the cat's head. It was a little awkward getting in in place, and then editing the stern so it looks as if it's attached to the ship, due to it made at an angle.
I also added some arches on each side of the stern, extruded faces to make the rudder and then added details around the window of the captain's quarters.
Something else I was looking at was making water. I found a tutorial on YouTube on how to use procedural nodes to make a water effect. It wasn't working quite as well as I hoped as a node in the tutorial was no longer part of Blender, however I still think it looks good.
