Week 9: All Pencils on Deck

This week I was working on adding the grease pencil to the ship. It was a bit more awkward than I expected, I had to make sure I was staring directing in front of the mesh I wanted to draw on, otherwise the grease pencil details would not be added. I was trying to make the wooden plans distorted, cartoon style, almost as if the ship was built with whatever wood was lying about at the time.

Also added details to the barrel, to make it have more of a wooden feel to it.

It did take longer than I expected, as I was adding details to make it look like the deck is make out of wooden plans, I had to be careful, because the grease pencil went off models at times, going in crazy directions, so I had to make sure other meshes were hidden so I wouldn't overlap.

I also added a pirate's jolly roger on the main sail, in the shape of a cat's skull. To make sure it looked correct, I did a rough grease drawing on the sail, then did the proper one on top of that. Once it was complete, I got rid of the rough version.
